it doesnt make you immune to the flood. if you read the book halo the first strike it says that the disease disrupted the stuff the flood puts into you that make you mutate and it actually saved his life. but i guess that that is pretty much what it does in this situation. lol
but on the legendery ending it shows him huging an eilite

hes got a disease called ”borens syndrom”, it makes you immune to the flood, he got it when a crate of plasma grenades exploded next to him in one of the books. and he boarded a pelican with a few other marines moments before the ring blew up.

1st time i saw this cutscene i was all like ”what the f–k”????? and then when it ended i was like ”oooohhhhhhhhh s–t”………. then at the beggining of floodgate (level in halo 3) when miranda keyes said ”the flood”. i was like ”aaaaaaaggghhhh f–k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” i pre-oredered ODST because hopefully, there will be no flood.
