Windows 7 Upgrade Hacks

This video covers two hacks to get around Windows 7 upgrade limitations. One is a hack that lets you upgrade from the Windows 7 Release Candidate (Beta version) and the other hack allows you to upgrade to a downgraded Windows Edition (ex. Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Professional).

    To answer my own question,

    Changed EditionId to HomePremium
and ProductId to “Windows Vista tm Home Premium” Notice the space between Home and Premium in productId.

This worked! and installation and activation went fine with windows 7.

Changed regedit for currentversion from Business to home and tried from upgrade DVD, still met with “no you cannot”. not sure if I am still required to copy the entire image to harddrive and change the cversion aswell. Any help?

silly question: I have Resident evil 5, Witcher, DMC4 and Grid installed on my XP, but I want to upgrade to W7 ..is it possible that the registry would remain intact so I can play them *after* the upgrade? (I think it’s a slim chance…but it can’t hurt to ask…)

“Hacking” is not a negative things. “hacking” a computer basically means helping a computer to your advantage. “CRACK” is when you “modify” or harm a computer, to be malicious and destructive towards a computer, witch would illegal. Just thought I would share, haha :P

if you upgrade and still get bluescreens, then it’s obviously not a problem with Windows…it’s a problem with the software that u have installed. probably a bad driver or something. don’t blame Windows for someone else’s crappy software.
