What Type Of Windows Vista Should I Buy?

I’m kind of new to Windows Vista. I’ve been hearing a lot lately about different types of Windows Vista, for example Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Premier and Windows Vista Business. I going to buy a new computer in a few weeks and I have no idea of what type of Windows Vista operating system I am going to buy. Can someone out there tell me the difference between the different types of Windows Vistas I listed above. Thank you for your help!
PS: Don’t answer this question if you are a smart -*** and wish to criticise my utter lack of knowledge in this area.

If you go to this site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product… you can compare the different versions.

In Windows Vista the best, by far, is Ultimate. But that isnt one of your choices. Im guessing you are going to use this in your homr, and not an office, so you should pick Basic or Preminum…(or Ultimate!). If you get Preminum or above, your computer needs to have 1 Gigabyte of Ram or higher. Check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista for other minumum requirements and information about it.
But like the other people said, it does have bugs. These will be fixed, eventually. I think a good alternative to Windows Vista is Ubuntu Linux. I love it, and I use it more than Windows. And its completely free! Google “download ubuntu
” and you can download it for free, or they can send you a free copy in the mail, you dont have to pay shipping!
Vista costs hundreds of dollars, but Ubuntu is better, and free!
Another alternative is Mac Os X. It is the best Operating System ever. You should buy a mac. The new version of Mac OS X is coming this fall, so i would wait to buy a mac untill then. Its SO much better than Vista, and so is Ubuntu.
Heres the order i would put them in:
    #1 Mac OS X
    #2 Vista Ultimate
    #3 Ubuntu Linux
#4 Vista Premenium. (how ever you spell it. lol)
    #5 Vista Business.
    #6 Windows XP Media Center.
    #7 Vista Home Basic
    #8 Windows XP Pro.
    #9 Windows XP Home.
    #10 RedHat Enterprise Linux.

Gonna try and not be a smartass, but as far as i know, Window’s Vista has countless bugs, and eats system resources, so i suggest if you’re not going to buy a top of the line Computer, then get Windows Xp. Also if you buy a new computer, just already built, it will probably come with a copy of Vista on it. From what i heard it’s more of a pain then anything worth while. Sure it’s pretty yes, but when the speed of your machine is at stake who cares, get a good background and be happy.

Windows Vista, from what I’ve heard, is terrible. It’s buggy and impossible to use.

    Short answer: Vista Home Premium
I bit the bullet and finally installed Vista on my laptop at home. I do agree that you need to make sure that your computer has the resource available to run Vista (enough memory, fast processor, good sized hard drive) so you will not be running this on any older systems for the most part. I must admit, once you get over the change in look and have it on a system that runs it well, you just may end up “liking” it, I do for the most part – there is a learning curve but there is with any major OS release/change.
If you do not need to connect to a Windows Domain at work or school, you do not need any of the Business versions as that is there ‘primary’ feature difference. Unless you need all the bells-and-whistles, forget Ultimate too. For the average user that just needs a PC at home and/or on the road, stick with with Vista Home Premium – it has the features most people are going to need (Home Basic is not worth the money).

It really depends on what you are looking for. If your’e using it for games and music etc, I would say Home Premier. For just typing documents, browsing the net etc, Home Basic. If you want it for buisness, (i.e. graphs, spreadsheets, presentations) drum roll please! Buisness!
So I would say, find what your’e looking for, got to the Microsoft site and compare the different versions.
    Good luck!! :D
