What is a Torrent? Is BitTorrent Legal?


live.pirillo.com – MadMike wrote in to ask what exactly a Torrent file is, and whether or not they are legal. He also is wondering how you can tell if something IS illegal or not.

    yes, but other things influence your download speed. at default, all the common torrent clients are set to download slower then what they are capable of and upload more per second then is needed.

    soo…let me see if i got this right….im new to this torrent thing…

    seeders are the people who leave the file up to download from them

    leechers are the people who are downloading from the seeders….

    soo the more seeders…the faster the download…and the more leechers…the slower the download…..rite

    Who’s been replacing the contents of torrents everywhere? Look for bowfinger, x-men trilogy, the principal, alien… You’re gonna find a music video from the “The network” band or lesbians.

    Peers are other people who are downloading. ETA means estimated time of arrival or something like that. It’s blank if it isn’t downloading.

    Pretend a torrent is a river. The one file gets passed on down the river. It is still the same file.
