How old is the PS-2 and how frequently was it used up to this point?

In addition, “God of War 2″ is a DVD-9, or an RSDL (reverse spiral dual layer) DVD-ROM. These kind of discs can be more difficult for the drive to read, especially if the drive is in need of service.

the ps2 is pretty old, maybe 6 yrs or so. Its used occasioanaly. I took it aprt yesterday and cleaned the lens, it seems to be working a little better. It still got froze but replayed it and its fine. some “loading” still shows but only on the same spots. I wonder if the disk is messed up again.

Were both lenses cleaned or just the objective lens?

And, were any of the mechanical components cleaned and lubricated?

no just the main lens that you see, I couldnt figure out how to get to the other one. I almost ended up breaking the cd drive so i got scared & put everything back together without doing anything else. LOL

Well, if it’s still managing to start up and read the game, then you may not need to clean the fixed lens.

I’d try cleaning and lubricating the mechanism as outlined in the tutorial.

can somebody help me with my ps2 problem??i searched the internet but none of it has a problem like mine..so,the problem is..when i just bought a new game for my ps2..i put the disc in the disk tray..reset the ps2..the playstation 2 text appears and thn..NOTHING!!it just shows a black screen.i waited for a long time but nothing happens..my other games work as per normal except my 2 new games…CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!! NEED REPLY ASAP!! THANKS!!

What are the titles of the games? (May make it easier to figure out what kind of discs they are)

both are dvd-roms

the titles are monster hunter and fight night round 3

my old games are dvd-roms and can still be played
