I Want To Connect Sony Ps3 To My Projector Which Is Not Hdmi, Can I Connect It To The Dvi Input On Projector?
I don’t want to buy a new projector with HDMI yet….but I want the video to be cleaner from the Sony Playstation 3….will the HDMI of the PS3 convert to DVI and look pretty clean and crisp?

As stated above, all you need is an adapter that will convert HDMI to DVI for video input. Here is a link to the website where I buy all my AV connectors. They’re selling what you need for less than four bucks. You’ll lose the audio signal when you convert it to DVI, but if you’re just connecting it to a projector, then it doesn’t really matter. I am quite surprised ppl still do not know the term of HDCP that comes with HDMI interface. Please do not just buy a HDMI-to-DVI cable and connect them, IT WILL NOT WORK!!!
Reason is because HDMI interface carries HDCP encryption signal and that signal has to be decrypted at the end side, i.e. your Projector/Monitor/LCD TV/Plasma… and that means the end side has to have HDCP chipset built-in too…
Don’t be surprised, those older models don’t come with HDCP chipset no matter Projector/Monitor/LCD TV/Plasma (for those without HDMI interface connections). Nowadays new DVI usually comes with HDCP, and guess what, that’s the way those FIRMS ripping ppl off, they forced ppl to upgrade their hardware to play HD quality.
Like above said, HDMI has same video pin signal as DVI but extra audio and HDCP signal built-in. But without HDCP you could not display any jack on your screen…
SOLUTION? YES! Connect GameSwitch b/w your projector and PS3:
GameSwitch seems arriving in Aus market soon… (i phoned them) and it will arrive in MSY Computer shop soon… (plus someone in Aus had carried a few in and is selling in http://www.kvm.com.au, you may wanna give it a try…)
HDMI carries the exact pins and signals of DVI, but adds wires for the audio. So there will be zero difference in quality using DVI.
You just need a HDMI->DVI adapter or a cable that has HDMI on one end and DVI on the other.
